It's hard to get excited by a molecule, particularly one whose name is so hard to pronounce (try saying deoxyribonucleic acid three times fast). But truth be told, when it comes to DNA we should get excited.
For hidden beneath the elegant shape (and less than elegant name) of DNA is a world of both technical and intellectual wonder. It is a world powered by symbolic codes and sophisticated machines as well as a world which stores detailed information for creating those codes and machines.
In short, DNA is a world which changes the way that we view the natural world; that is, if we take the time to actually understand what DNA is and how it works.
