Sometimes life needs to be selfish. For instance, imagine if all the cells in our body had to share the same DNA molecule – it wouldn’t be such an efficient system. And what about the next generation – they may also want their own copy of the code of life. No, in this case sharing just won’t do. Every cell and every living organism needs their own copy of DNA. So what is a simple molecule to do when it is so popular? Simple, it copies itself. And it does so in a most elegant, sophisticated and beautiful manner – as these video animations show.
